Quick Update

- New Minus the Bear song "Dr. L'Ling" can be found here. Their new album Planet of Ice comes out August 21st on Suicide Squeeze Records. The band just started a month long tour with The Honorary Titles and Chin Up Chin Up and dates for the band can be found on their site.

- Wu Tang Clan's website has posted tons of demos and unreleased material that you can download for free. You're a fool if you don't check it out here.

- Set times for Coachella have been posted. If you're going, I probably hate you.

- Texas is the Reason sent out an update, linking to a video of what I believe is their first show opening up for Snapcase in Buffalo, NY. Definitely check this out. If you missed the reunion shows, then I feel sorry for you.

- Long Island hardcore band Crime in Stereo have signed to Bridge 9 Records. This band put out one of the best albums of 2006 and this is a great band/label pairing.

- I was lucky enough to get a ticket for the Brand New/Kevin Devine/Manchester Orchestra show tonight at the Avalon in Boston. Expect a review but most likely sans photos. Stupid camera policy.

- Pitchfork is reporting that M.I.A.'s new album, Kala, will be released on June 26th through Interscope. I highly recommend you check out the video for the single "Bird Flu" here.

-Bradley's Almanac posted up a ton of live Ted Leo mp3s from his stop at the Opera House with Death Cab for Cutie back in November.

- Connecticut are going to adopt an official state punk rock song. This is too weird to believe.

The Silversun Pickups are playing an in-store performance at the Newbury Comics on Newbury Street on March 29th. I'm not sure of the details but I don't think you need a wrist band or anything. More info to come.

Ted Leo will be on WFMU tonight during their pledge drive, sometime between 8-11pm. Listen at WFMU.org

Billboard has a short interview up here with Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse, discussing their new album coming out next week on March 20th.

LiveBonnaroo.com
is offering mp3s and FLAC downloads of past performances from the festival. Whole albums cost $9.95 in MP3 format and $12.95 in the CD-quality lossless FLAC format.

AOL.com is currently hosting the entire Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony that occurred recently. Watch it here to see the induction of REM, Patti Smith, and numerous others.

Sub Pop Records has launched an imprint label, Hardly Art, whose first release will be by Arthur & Yu and will come out June 19th, 2007.

Sub Pop is also offering a scholarship open to high school students from Oregon and Washington for $5750. Details can be found here and entrants are encouraged to have a strong interest in music.

Spin Magazine has a cool new feature called "Spin.com Book Club", which has band members read a book and then write about it each month. Check it out here.

Lastly, Crayola used Animal Collective's "Sweet Road" in their latest commercial. Pretty weird, huh? Watch it here.

Boston Zine Fair

I just heard about this, but it sounds pretty sweet. The Boston Zine Fair (formerly known as Beantown Zinetown) is an event taking place March 24th and 25th "with the aim of bringing together zinesters, artists, small presses and other producers of independent media. The conference includes two full days of tabling, an opening night show with live bands and readers, as well as potluck meals throughout the weekend." According to their website, there are also workshops and discussion panels. The fair is free and open to the public, takes place from 10am-6pm on both days, and will be held at Mass Art (621 Huntington Avenue, Boston MA). Registration for tables is available on their website and is open until March 3rd (too late for this I guess, oh well). There is also a yahoo group which you can join here to receive the latest updates, and the main Boston Zine Fair site, with all the information you need, can be found at Bostonzinefair.org
